Pride

I was thinking not too long ago about pride. Were not supposed to be proud because it means we get/are self righteous about things which destroys the people around us. Then I was walking to White Stone with a JA hoody on and is was feeling proud of wearing it and being a part of Jesus' body and all but...are we allowed to be proud of that? is that ok? I don't know, I've been wondering but I never came to the conclusion. So my question is, is there a good kind of pride?

Well, you blogged...I think (not sure if I'm right or not) that It is good to have a sense of pride, that you belong to something...but when you let your proudness overtake your humility and humbleness, I think that's when it becomes a problem...

Pride like anger is ok to have if used in the right manner. It's ok to be proud at belonging as long as you don't adopted a holier than thou attitued with it.As long as you've a humbleness in your pride and you don't become boastful or think of yourself as better or more worthy than others then I think thats ok.I think if you search your heart you'll know if you attitued at being proud of belonging is in the right place or not.

if you are proud of yourself or for yourself its wrong, if you are proud on behalf of someone else then its ok. at least thats my opinion. probably wrong tho, seem to be most of the time.

I found seven occasions where the word 'pride' was used in the New Testament - and they were mostly positive. Eight references to 'proud' were all bad. Interesting. It would appear, from the New Testament, that to 'take pride' in something or someone is generally good, whereas to be 'proud' is not.

So 'take pride' in your red cross hoodie with no fear - but don't get proud!
